Women at War
A new demonstration designed particularly for presentation in schools but that is equally suitable for all types of audiences of both young and old alike. The workshops concentrate on the wartime memories and experiences of 'Life on the Front' and of military nurses in particular.

Each workshop concentrates on specific points in the experiences of women at war using many original artefacts, inherited heirlooms and excellent replica equipment. One session may be to explore the 'medical field bag' of the nurse, examine the original equipment used and discuss how she helped and saved many soldiers - and learn of the vital service the Queen Alexandra's Royal Army Nursing Corps performed for the sick and wounded in two World Wars . |
| Perhaps the Field dressing Station (FDS) can be erected to demonstrate how casualties were cared for direct from the front line before being dispatched to the Field Hospital. Participants can see and handle original military hospital equipment, learn how to fit a gas mask, explore how ration books and coupons were issued. They can also see medals and photographs of service men and women 1918 - 1945 - even try on items of military uniform. |

For a larger display we can also provide a fully working NAAFI canteen/Field Kitchen where all the food displayed and served is made from original recipes and from war time rations (original wrappers cover all the food items used). A look through a soldier's ration box proves instructive - or our cooks could rustle up an accurate plate of food or a cake using available ingredients on the ration.
