 | Fully equipped workshop. Demonstration of the manufacture of turn-shoes. The public are encouraged to handle the shoes and part-finished examples of work-stages. Sharp items on view but behind safe barrier. I provide a period tent or I am happy to 'move' into the clients premises. My dialogue addresses all levels of audiences, from pre-school to archeologists. It covers shoemaking but also aims to draw the imagination into the shoemaker's world; apprentices aged 10 / children's and poor people's shoe's / the guild system / so lucky to live in a town / businesswomen / the price of shoes and the black death / religious duties / hopes and expectations, luxuries and limitations / fashion follies etc. |
