ABOUT US
Discover History was established in 2003 by Paul Harding with an aim to offer history as an interactive and hands-on learning experience that is suitable for people of all ages and abilities.
Discover History is a small friendly team of historical interpreters who like to concentrate on providing historical accuracy and authenticity through demonstrating the personal lives of how our ancestors lived, worked and enjoyed their pastimes.
EDUCATION
Let us use our expertise and understanding to enhance your group’s historical knowledge by allowing us to visit your school, college, home education or adult group and bring your chosen topic alive.
We can act as a complimentary teaching aid to set the scene and introduce or finalise topics or we could simply be used as an end of term treat.
All of our workshops are based along the guidelines of both the National Curriculum and the International Primary Curriculum and are designed so that they are suitable for people of all ages and abilities, which allows everyone the opportunity to see, feel or even smell many of the authentic and historically accurate artefacts that we bring along with us.
MEDIA WORK
Whether you are from a film or Television Company, a newspaper or magazine, or even a theatre company, you can hire Discover History to help with your needs. We have all our own clothing and equipment for many historical ages which can help in saving added expenses of hiring additional items. We are also available to act as historical consultants for any of your projects to help you make the most of your time. Recent projects have included work for the BBC’s The One Show and Country Tracks.
PRESENTATIONS
Are you looking for a presentation that is different? Well, look no further than Discover History!
We can come and visit your group, wearing authentic period clothing and bring your chosen topic to life. With a variety of historically accurate artefacts, your group can see, feel, smell, and in some cases reminiscence, about years gone by.
We also offer slideshow presentations on the History of Worcester and can even take your group on an organised tour around our home city that we are so passionate about.
Discover History are available to be booked any day, all year round and can visit your group at your normal meeting time, whether it is in the morning, the afternoon or in the evening.
CONSULTANCY
We have worked on a number of projects such as helping theatre companies conquer their fears in making their historical age accurate, provided training sessions for museums staff and history teachers on conducting tours and providing 1st person presentations, to writing temporary display exhibitions. If you have a project that you think we may be able to help with, then please do not hesitate in contacting us.
VISITOR ATTRACTIONS
We can offer visitors to your site an interactive living history experience that is not only hands-on but is also complete with all the sights, sounds and smells of your chosen period. We can dress period rooms, provide an outdoor living history area complete with tents or simply offer strolling characters that once roamed the grounds of your property.
WALKING TOURS
Whether you are a local resident to Worcester or you are visiting our Home City, why not meet one of Worcester’s past characters on a historical guided walk.
