Over the years we have developed a series of falconry training days – events that allow the public to get hands-on with the birds and receive expert tuition. Although we do not carry out these events in historical clothing, the craft itself is an ancient one and many falconry techniques remain unchanged. These events can help to promote wildlife and rural issues and make good use of a venue’s exterior grounds.
The ability to take advance bookings is essential to their success and these events can be run over 1 or 2 days. They are a popular, proven and profitable package.
The Art of Falconry DaysA magical introduction to the ancient art of falconry for the enjoyment of outdoor enthusiasts and bird lovers. This event is a day long course incorporating a group quiz, build-a-bird challenge, knot tying, handling tuition and a group outdoor flying session. It is suitable for venues that have large open grounds e.g. stately homes, castles, arboretums and can offer the use of an indoor classroom. This event is suitable for people aged 16 years + and can be staged as a corporate activity.
Junior Bird of Prey Days
Exciting half day educational workshops designed especially for children aged 8 years +. Fully interactive with props, Q&A and discussion, we teach about bird ID, habitat and camouflage, feather design, owl pellet dissection and flying birds to the glove. Workshops can accommodate a maximum of 15 children a time and we run 2 workshops per day.
Winter Hawk Walks
If your venue possesses extensive grounds of parkland, woodland and meadow then this event is perfect for you. Hawking is a centuries old winter tradition that involves working (free flying) trained hawks over acres of countryside, enjoying a long hike and marvelling at the sight of hawks soaring overhead and diving into cover after quarry. It is exciting, challenging and endlessly fascinating for all outdoor types and field sport enthusiasts. We take out small groups for half a day each between November and February only. This event is suitable for ages 18+ only.
