This was a time of great political change. Not a good time to be making gardens, but the first great 'Plant Hunters' the Tradescants, were bringing new plants to England so that the wealthy could out-do their friends, and their enemies, with their gardens. With the Civil War comes another man of note, Nicholas Culpepper, with his herbal remedies.
